Did You Know... How Many Ways Sage Timberline's Desktop Can Make Your Work Easier and Faster?

Many of you have been using Sage Timberline’s Desktop for a while now, but have you taken full advantage of all its capabilities?

Did You Know… that you can use a canned or custom home page that will give you up to the minute information? The canned home pages are designed for project managers, controllers, owners and Accounts Payable specialists. There is even a home page that will show all outstanding items from Project Management, such as overdue RFI’s, vendor quotes, and more. When you launch the desktop, the homepage pre-fills on the right hand side of your desktop. You can continually refresh it throughout the day with the refresh button on your tool bar, and can drill down using the blue items on the home page. So, for example, if you are looking at the Accounts Payable total open, you can drill down to review all the specific open invoices or paid checks with just a click of a button.

Did You Know… that you can add other applications onto your home page, outside of Sage Timberline accounting products? You can add Excel spreadsheets (or the actual Excel program) or you can add Word documents (or the actual Word program). In addition you can add Outlook, Access, Timberline Estimating and more. This will eliminate having to exit and re-enter Timberline throughout the day to do your job. It will also give you visibility to those spreadsheets or Word documents that you use on a regular basis.

Did You Know… that you can use the Desktop’s Job Central to set up or change your job information? Through Job Central, from the Job Cost menu, you can choose Job Central and create the job, customer and contract information all in one place instead of jumping from application to application. You can also cut and paste your budgets and/or your schedule of values through Job Central, eliminating data entry and saving time.

Did You Know… that you can use the Desktop to reconcile your applications to the General Ledger? From the Desktop menu, open the Additional Tools menu, and choose the reconciliation tool. This will walk you step by step through all the reports and reconciliation tasks that will ensure that your applications are in balance with themselves as well as with the General Ledger.

Did You Know… that there are Workflow Centers available from the Desktop? From the Desktop menu, open Additional Tools, and choose one of the Workflow Center options. When this opens, on the right, you will see many of the tasks, setup options, and reports/inquiries in the form of a flow chart. You can then tag the specific task or setup option and it will immediately take you there. No longer will you have to navigate through menu after menu trying to locate a specific task or report. This is great for new employee orientation as well.
