Sage MAS 90 & MAS 200 ERP Software News & Tips
The Sun is Setting for Sage Extended Solutions
Sage has recently decided to discontinue supporting the majority of their more than 1000 Sage Extended Solutions. Some of the factors that weighed into their decision include these key points.
- Sage is determined to build value into the base product by incorporating top title functionality for all customers to benefit.
- Sage wants to simplify their product portfolio so that they can develop a stronger core product with value to keep customers on plan.
- Sage desires to add market driven features to the product that will both drive new license sales and keep existing customers in the Sage family.
- Sage wants to deliver features in Product Updates to demonstrate more frequent value for customer maintenance dollars.
Sage has made the determination to continue supporting 56 of the most popular Extended Solutions, however. Over the next couple of years, these 56 Extended Solutions will be incorporated into the standard MAS 90 and MAS 200 product. For example, the roadmap for the next release calls for including the following.
Version 4.4, Update 1, March 2010
- AR-1027 A/R Enhanced Invoice History Search
- AR-1200 Cash Receipts Entry By Invoice Number
- JC-1046 Job Status Posting Control
- PR-1018 Automatic Earnings Code Maintenance By Employee
- SO-1035 Enhanced Quick Print
- SO-1096 Enhanced Customer PO Number Validation
- SO-1271 Authorized Purchase Control By Customer or State
Version 4.4, Update 2, June 2010
- BR-1004 Positive Pay Export
- BR-1005 Bank Reconciliation Import
You might be wondering how this affects you. The first step is to check your system to see what, if any, Extended Solutions you might be currently using. The way to do that can vary a bit depending upon what version of software you are using, but here is an example of how to check your MAS 90 or MAS 200 system. Start off by going to the Library Master and selecting the Reports Menu. You should find a report entitled “Installed Applications Listing.” Upon selecting the report, it should show you something similar to this. You will want to look for item listings that are indented from the left hand column as these are usually indicative of Extended Solutions being installed. As further evidence, you can see here that it indicates Extended Solutions under the Developer heading:
If you find Extended Solutions titles on your Installed Applications Listing that are not shown on the Sage website, you should highlight those items and forward a copy to us via email at mas90@ics-support.com or fax it to 425-820-6420. We can then evaluate those items and offer guidance on how best to proceed.
As a point of note, ICS Support has been a Sage Master Developer for over 17 years. We have extensive specific training and experience working with and upgrading Sage Extended Solutions. We are the only Sage Master Developer able to make that claim. As such, we can ensure that you continue to have access to the functionality in Sage Extended Solutions whether Sage supports them or not.
Please contact Integrated Computer Systems Support at 425-820-6120 should you have any questions about the Extended Solutions program and the recent changes.
