Dear Crystal... Tips and Tricks for Using Crystal Reports

Many of the change requests we receive for MAS 90 forms, such as AP Checks or AR Invoices, are for relocating fields, changing the size of the field, or changing the font size of a field. These are simple changes that you can do. If you've seen the design window for one of the forms and found it somewhat intimidating, then this article is for you. If you are already familiar with Crystal Reports and these functions, then future articles from "Dear Crystal" may be of more interest to you.

You can access the design window for AP Checks from the MAS 90 Accounts Payable Check Printing window. Click on the Designer button in the upper right corner of the window to access Crystal Reports. If you do not see this Designer button, contact your Systems Administrator or ICS Support to assist you with setting the appropriate permissions or installing Crystal Reports on your workstation.

To move a field, such as the Check Date, place the cursor on the field and you will see the movement icon movement icon. Hold down the left mouse button and drag the field to the desired location.

To enlarge or reduce the size of the field, place the cursor on the border of the field to see the sizing icon sizing icon. It helps to place the cursor on one of the solid square, or drag points, on the border:

There are many other formatting functions you can do in Crystal Reports, including font size or font type, bold print, shading, colors, and adding fields or company icons.
