Sage MAS 90 & MAS 200 ERP Software News & Tips
EXCELent!
by Don Sunderland, Financial Systems Consultant
Sage MAS 90 has a number of reporting options that enable you to retrieve the information you need.
In addition to a host of standard reports that feature data selection and sorting options, you can:
- Create custom versions of the standard reports via Crystal Reports.
- Create your own Crystal Report from scratch.
- Save the reporting selection and sorting options so you can rerun a report at a later date.
- Export any of the above reports to Excel.
Many users find they can enhance their analysis by exporting reports from MAS 90 into an Excel spreadsheet. This has never been easier than it is now with MAS 90 version 4.40.
While version 4.40 makes exporting to Excel a snap because of the Sage Business Framework, you can export reports to Excel from older versions of MAS 90, or from modules such as Payroll and Work Order that have not been converted to the Sage Business Framework.
Exporting from MAS 90 v4.40
When you are ready to export your report, select Export/E-mail from the drop down printer selection box, then Print.
From the Export window, select Microsoft Excel from the drop down box in the Format field, and Application from the drop down box in the Destination field, then click on the OK button.
From the Excel Format Options window, you can click on OK.
When you are more familiar with exporting, there are some formatting options you can experiment with.
Shizam! Your file is exported to Excel, opened, and ready for printing or further editing.
Exporting from Earlier Versions of MAS 90, or Non-Business Framework Modules
Click on the Printer Setup button.
Select Export File.
Enter the path and file name in the File Name field. Click on the OK button.
You will end up back at the report window, Click on the Print Button to create the file.
You will then be able to open the file from Excel, and will be guided through the Text Import Wizard.
Is There a Better Way?
- What if you could open an Excel spreadsheet and access the data in MAS 90 without having to export or import?
- What if you could open a spreadsheet called Income Statement, and access up-to-date information from MAS, or even get information from a prior period, a different location, or even a different year simply by changing a cell in your Excel spreadsheet?
- What if you could drill down to account, or transaction information on the spreadsheet into MAS 90?
