C & A was using an old DOS-based program, Procomm, which had a number of issues. Payroll and commissions had to be managed in Excel and the tax table manually entered. Manual purchase orders were created for specific sales orders because the system lacked the ability to accurately account for inventory.
Rebates from vendors were also tracked in Excel, as was AR aging. Serial number tracking is very important for warranty and repairs and the entire sales order process was very time consuming – it was time for a change.
A Timely Solution
Integrated Computer Systems Support implemented a Sage MAS 90 ERP core system and distribution for C & A that gave them the ability to easily convert quotes into orders, track serial numbers and have access and visibility into orders and inventory. Order entry is easy to use and drill down capability in MAS 90 is very powerful, giving them information in a more timely manner. Purchasing, returns and rebates are now managed in MAS 90, which gives them better control. And the Advanced Lookup Engine (ALE) is being heavily used to access information quickly, while User Defined Fields (UDFs) are created to track manufacturer information, which is also accessed via ALE.
