Many businesses are continuing to feel the top line revenue squeeze from the economy and the bottom line profit squeeze from all the other elements of operating a business. These other elements include high labor and plant costs due to under-utilization, slow moving or lost inventory, rising taxes due to a government revenue shortfall, and on and on.
Since we do a lot of work for clients in the manufacturing and distribution industries, inventory management and supply chain logistics are common topics of conversation. Frequently we are asked about the benefits of implementing automated data collection (ADC), or what you may think of in its earlier days as bar coding. Everybody generally gets the fact that by implementing these technologies, you should expect higher accuracy and faster processing in the handling of inventory.
